It’s been 22 years since we’ve had a woman on track – Susie Wolff drove in free practice one for Williams. Although, it was not exactly a success – four laps into the session, she had mechanical problems and ended up with the slowest time in the session.

There was rain in the practice and qualifying sessions, and the race began with a very violent accident involving Räikkönen – this forced the red flag to come out and the interruption of the race for one hour to clear the debris and repair the Armco barrier that took the impact. For sure, this isn’t Räikkönen’s year!

It was another interesting race with Hamilton winning (Rosberg was leading the race but was forced to retire with gearbox gremlins) followed by a sensational Bottas (who started in 14th) and Ricciardo – putting his Red Bull on the podium yet again.

The fight (and what a fight) of the day was between Vettel and Alonso over fifth place – Alonso started from a lowly 16th position and was penalised with a five second stop-and-go penalty for overshooting his grid slot at the start of the race.
McLaren did a decent job for them to take home a whole bundle of points: fourth place for Button (but once again no podium at home after 15 races at Silverstone) and seventh for Magnussen.
Hülkenberg was eighth and the two Toro Rosso drivers, Kvyat and Vergne, completed the top ten.
Maldonado and Gutierrez were once again involved in an accident – this time the one who was flying was Maldonado!

After nine races Rosberg still leads the championship with 165 points, followed by Hamilton with 161 points and Ricciardo with 98 points. In the constructors standings, Mercedes lead with 326 points, followed by Red Bull with 168 points and Ferrari with 106 points. In two weeks, we’ll be turning our thoughts to the German Grand Prix.
