A Review of the Monaco GP by Pedro Cunha

F1 2016 Monaco GP.

For the 62nd consecutive time, the Monegasque principality’s streets received a F1 GP.~

Ricciardo got the 1st pole of his career (the last Australian to achieve that was Mark Webber in 2013 in Abu Dhabi), while Red Bull returned to being pole sitters (the last one was in Brazil in 2013). Verstappen had a crash in Q1 and had to settle for 21st place.
Daniel Ricciardo

“I do not even want to comment on the race, to be honest,” Ricciardo said after the race. “Two weekends in a row now, I’ve been screwed. It sucks. It hurts.”

“I did not make the call, I was called into the box. They shouldn’t have been ready. I do not have anything else to say to be honest”, was the outburst of the Australian after the race.

Hamilton vs Ricciardo

Ricciardo was talking about what happened on lap 32; he entered the pits to change tires but nothing was prepared for the change. He lost a lot of time and the race to Hamilton and truth to say that the Englishman had an almost perfect race having been advocated well of Ricciardo attacks, unlike Rosberg who was only 7th.

The race begun with the safety car on the track due to the rain, it came in on lap 7. But then we had several times the Virtual Safety Car (on lap 8 after Palmer hit the walls, lap 35 when Verstappen finished the race in the barriers, lap 50 when Nasr disrespected the order of his team to let Ericsson overtake him – causing a collision, and on lap 68 when an object flew on the track).

Nasr vs Ericcson

There were 7 dropouts (Palmer, Räikkönen, Magnussen, Verstappen, Ericsson, Nasr and Kvyat). It was a very interesting race where Force India were phenomenal (Pérez was 3rd and Hülkenberg 6th). McLaren are getting much better (Alonso and Button were 5th and 9th respectively). Ferrari had to settle for 4th place with Vettel and Williams had to settle for 10th with Massa. Sainz added 4 more points to Toro Rosso’s score.

Max Verstappen crash

In two weeks F1, will visit Canada.
