“At home” (Silverstone, England), Hamilton was the fastest driver in qualifying.

Lap 46 transcript:

Rosberg: [urgent] Gearbox problems,

Mercedes: Driver default zero-one. Chassis default zero-one. Chassis default zero-one.

Mercedes: Avoid seventh gear Nico. Avoid seventh gear.

Rosberg: What does that mean? I mean have to shift through it?

Mercedes: Affirm Nico. You have to shift through it. Affirm. You need to shift through it.

The stewards decided to give the German driver a 10 seconds penalty for a breach of the radio communications rules (the driver must drive the car alone and unaided), as he (and Mercedes) were found guilty allowing Verstappen to finish 2nd.

Ricciardo was 4th, Räikkönen 5th, after another miserable weekend for Vettel; first he had a 5 place grid penalty for changing his gearbox. He started the race in 11th and finished the race only in position 9. During the race another penalty was given; 5 seconds for forcing another driver off the track – Massa.

It was another good weekend for Force India (Peréz was 6th and Hülkenberg 7th), as Toro Rosso also did a good job (Sainz was 8th and Kvyat 10th).

6 drivers did not finish (Wehrlein, Ericsson, Grosjean, Haryanto, Palmer and Magnussen) and for the 1st time since Canada in 2014 both Manor drivers weren’t able to end the race.

The Williams weekend wasn’t glorious. For the first time this season none of their drivers scored points (Massa was 11th and Bottas 14th)
