At home (in Germany) Rosberg claimed the 27th pole of his career and the 5th of the current season, but it was not a race to remember. At the start he was overtaken by Hamilton, Verstappen and Ricciardo, and during the race he suffered a penalty of 5 seconds after forcing another driver off the track (Verstappen) at a time when the two drivers were fighting for 5th place, having to settle for a final 4th position.
This race can be known as “Hamilton and the others.” We had countless fights for almost every positions, the same was not true for position one. It’s the 4th win in a row for Hamilton after one almost perfect race.
Nice day for Red Bull as Ricciardo was 2nd (in what was his 100th GP) and Verstappen 3rd, which allowed the team to claim 2nd position in the constructors championship. Ferrari are now behind of Red Bull after a very discreet weekend; Vettel was 5th and Räikkönen 6th.
The Force India drivers also scored. Hülkenberg was 7th and Pérez 10th. Button added 4 more points to the McLaren score as he was 8th, and 2 more points for Williams after a 9th position for Bottas.
It was a very interesting race with a few drops of rain on its final part and only 2 retirements, Massa – for the 3rd consecutive race in Germany, and Nasr.
F1 goes on holiday and will return for the Belgian GP (August the 28th).
