This weekend we had the Hungarian Grand Prix (which has been part of the world championship series since 1986). It was the first race after the recent death of Jules Bianchi (R.I.P Jules).
It was a crazy race where incidents/accidents and penalties were numerous: Massa was the 1st one to be penalised 5 seconds for being out of grid position which caused the original start to be aborted, followed by Hamilton with a drive through for causing a collision, Grosjean also with a drive through for an unsafe release from the pits, Kvyat 10 seconds, for gaining an advantage by going over track limits, and the inevitable Maldonado (3 penalties in a single run: a drive through for causing a collision, another drive through for excessive speed in the pits and 10 seconds for overtaking during the safety car period.
Hamilton got his 9th pole of the year, but after a bad start, he ran off the track and through the gravel, leaving him 10th. Ferrari did a great job, Vettel moved himself from 3rd to 1st, and Räikkönen from 5th to 2nd.
Until lap 40 (of 69), I thought that Ferrari could achieve a one-two – something that has not happen since Belgium in 2010, but on that lap Räikkönen reported problems with his MGU – K power unit, and a few laps after he had to quit.

On lap 42, Hülkenberg lost his front wing and ended up in the barriers (a violent crash, but without consequences for the driver). Initially we had the virtual safety car, but the real one eventually got on to the track.
At the restart, Vettel commanded, while Hamilton and Ricciardo got involved in a crash, forcing the English driver to change the front wing of his Mercedes.
On lap 64, Ricciardo and Rosberg were fighting for second place, but after an accident, both drivers were forced to go to the pits.
Vettel won the race with great justice (in French he dedicated the victory to Bianchi), followed by Kvyat (the first podium of his career), while Ricciardo completed the podium (his first this season), after a great day for Red Bull.
Verstappen claimed one unexpected 4th place (his best result ever), while McLaren achieved their best result of the year (Alonso was 5th and Button 9th). A disastrous Hamilton ended up in 6th (after the race he admitted it was a bad day), while Rosberg finished in 8th after one unlucky race.
Grosjean also scored, as he finished in 7th and Ericsson finished the race in 10th.

For the first time this season, Williams wasn’t able to score (Massa was 12th and Bottas 13th) as Force India was also on a bad day (both drivers dropped out).
The competition will return on August, the 23rd, with the Belgian GP.
Standings:
Teams: Mercedes (383), Ferrari (236), Williams (151), Red Bull (96), Force India (39)
P.S. This post is dedicated in memory of Jules Bianchi.
