4th race of the year, 4th pole for Mercedes (3rd to Hamilton) and “hat trick” for the British and for the team in a quiet race. – Well, I guess we can´t always have races like the Bahrain one…
Ferrari changed their Team Principal this week (Stefano Domenicali left after 6 years in office being replaced by Marco Mattiacci) and he has a lot of work to do (the team has not won the drivers championship since 2007 and the constructors since 2008, and the last victory was at the Spanish GP on May 12, 2013)… anyway, Alonso got his 1st podium of the season, while Räikkönen came 8th.
4th and 5th for Red Bull with Ricciardo again ahead of Vettel! Force India remains ok (6th Hülkenberg and 9th Perez) and so is Williams (Bottas was 7th and Massa couldn´t fight for the “top ten” due to a disastrous pit stop). Kvyat scored for the 3rd time, continuing to give excellent indications.
What’s up with McLaren?! . – 33 points in the opening race (and 2 podiums), 10 points in the 2nd race, 0 in the 3rd, and no points again today.
Lotus: Improvements are obvious: Grosjean managed for the 1st time this season to participate in the “Q3″, but had to quit (gearbox problems) while Maldonado finished 14th, after starting from position 22.
Sauber is still having huge problems: Sutil didn´t finish and Gutierrez was 16th.
Caterham and Marussia are doing what they can as Max Chilton continues to finish in all races (23 in 23).
What will happen in the next GP? We will know on May 11th, in Spain, after the 1st of 9 races scheduled to take place on European soil.
