The GP of Great Britain is part of the F1 calendar, since it was created in 1950.

Today we had at Silverstone, probably the best race of the current season: Hamilton got his 8th pole of the year, the 5th victory, and Mercedes took their 6th “one-two” after a fantastic race.

Massa with a sensational start moved himself to first position, as an accident  involving Alonso, Button, Maldonado and Grosjean, forced the entrance of the safety car, and the abandonment of Button and the two Lotus drivers.

Felipe Massa.

After the restart, Bottas passed Hamilton and the Williams drivers were in positions one and two.

Everything changed with the first pit stops: Hamilton was the first to stop (lap 20), and after everyone had changed their tires (Massa and Rosberg came in on lap 21 and Bottas on 22), the English  driver moved up to the front of the race.

It was all almost quiet until lap 34, when we had the virtual safety car (after the withdrawal of Sainz ) and after lap 35 began “another race”, i.e, it started to rain and until the end of the 52 laps, the weather was always unpredictable.

Mercedes with extraordinary management of tires managed to put their drivers in the first 2 places, while Williams failed (Massa said at the end of the race “We failed. The first stop was a little hard to know. Hamilton risked and it worked. In the second stop, of course it was a mistake. We just past the entrance to the pits and lost the chance of the podium”). Massa was relegated to 4th and Bottas to 5th, while Vettel, who was far away from the first places, claimed a final 3rd place after a good strategy by Ferrari.

Kvyat was 6th (who unsuccessfully tried to overtake Bottas at the end of the race), Force India took their two drivers to the points (Hülkenberg was 7th and Pérez 9th), Räikkönen was 8th and Alonso scored for the first time this year as he was 10th, in a race where only 13 drivers saw the chequered flag.

Within three weeks we will have the Hungarian Grand Prix.
