On the “mythical” circuit of Monza, Italy (built in 1922) Mercedes got its 7th “one – two” of the season.
F1 2014 Italian GP.
Things did not begin well for Hamilton, who immediately fell from 1st to 4th, due to problems in the energy recovery system (ERS). However, he quickly recovered into 2nd and went to the front in lap 29, after Rosberg’s second mistake on Rettifilo chicane (the first one was in lap 8).
Nico Rosberg F1 2014 Italian GP.
Massa got his 1st podium of the season (his last one was in Spain May 12, 2013), followed by Bottas (an excellent race for the Finn after a disastrous start which dropped him from 3rd to 11th). – Williams has already confirmed the same two drivers for its 2015 season.
Felipe Massa.
Ricciardo was “missing in action” for much of the race, but after a late pit to change tyres, he started to gain places and ended up in 5th, in front of his team mate Vettel.
Sergio Perez F1 2014 Italian GP.
Pérez had an excellent race (maybe his best since Bahrain), and finished 7th, ahead of the two McLarens (Button was 8th and Magnussen 10th), while Räikkönen came 9th and his team mate Alonso didn’t finish the race after gearbox troubles. This is the first retirement from the Spanish driver since March 24, 2013 at the Malasyian Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso F1 2014 Italian GP.
Another great race, triggering a lot of emotions (nothing new in this superb 2014 World Championship).
The next race is scheduled for the evening in Singapore, 2 weeks from now.
