Austrian GP: Hamilton vs Rosberg

This weekend we had the Austrian GP.

Daniil Kyvat

On Q1 Kvyat suffered a huge accident (fortunately without consequences for the Russian driver).

The end of Q2 had some rain, which continued at the start of Q3, but little by little the track was drying up and the excitement was more than plenty with several drivers competing for the pole, which was claimed by Hamilton, a starting grid where Rosberg and Vettel were penalized 5 places for having changed their gearboxes.

With Hülkenberg 2nd and Button in 3rd, not to mention position 12 for Wehrlein (His and Manor best result ever) the race was supposed to be very interesting, and it was, as 8 teams were able to score.

Pascal Wehrlein

In a race full of excitement, overtakes and six retirements (Kvyat, Vettel, Massa, Alonso, Hülkenberg and Perez), we had two decisive moments.

On lap 27, Vettel was leading the race when his rear right tyre exploded, which forced its withdrawal, after hitting the walls and caused the appearance of the Safety Car.

Sebastian Vettel

On the last lap, Rosberg was first, Hamilton was 2nd and they were fighting for first place, when once again, they were engaged in one accident and the English driver had no problems and the German driver, Rosberg, found his car severely damaged, eventually finishing in 4th. Taking advantage were Verstappen to be 2nd and Räikkönen 3rd.
Rosberg was handed a 10 second time Penalty, as the Stewards deemed him responsible for the collision, but he kept his 4th place.

Riccardo was 5th, Button 6th (his best result of the current season), Grosjean 7th (a return to the points after 4 races out of them), Sainz 8th, Bottas 9th and Wehrlein with a fantastic weekend achieved the 1st point of his career and the 1st Manor point this year (Sauber is now the only team still without points).

The Austrian GP was probably the best race of the season so far, the next Grand Prix is scheduled to be at Silverstone next weekend.

Current Standings (Top 5)
